Please refer to appropriate replacement procedures for the diameter seal you are replacing. Production Vehicles built from VINs listed below or later use new 72 mm crankshaft seal (Part No. 079 103 051G). Model Engine (Code) VIN S4 Avant/Sedan 4.2L (BHF) 8E_4A163756 S4 Cabriolet 4.2L (BHF) Only uses 72 mm seal allroad 4.2L (BAS) 4B_4N057050 Vehicles built prior to VINs listed above still use 70 mm crankshaft seal (Part No. 079 103 051D). Service 70 mm Crankshaft Seal Replacement Replace seal as outlined in Repair Manual. – Remove seal as outlined in Repair Manual. See Repair Manual, Crankshaft assembly, Repair Group 13, “Crankshaft seal – ribbed belt side, replacing”. z Seal bore must be clean and dry.
