Technology, innovation, safety and luxury all rate highly in the Cabriolet, and together, make it a strong contender amongst its luxury cabriolet/convertible rivals. At $105,370, the A4 Cabriolet is dearer than the Volvo C70 convertible ($98,000), but cheaper than the BMW 330Ci convertible ($110,700 - auto) and the Mercedes-Benz CLK320 cabriolet ($128,974). The first of the new A4 Cabriolet models to arrive in Australia is powered by a high-tech all-alloy 3.0 litre V6 engine that features four variably-timed camshafts, variable length intake manifolds and five valves per cylinder. A 1.8 litre turbocharged four cylinder variant that delivers maximum torque from 1950 rpm right through to 4700 rpm, is set for introduction soon after the V6. Pricing for the 1.8 litre model has not yet been announced. Both these engines are mated to Audis multitronic transmission. With its infinitely variable ratios, this automatic provides seamless power delivery when left to its own devices in Drive mode.
