Fitted with a 3.8 liter V6 engine that
produces 150 horsepower and 215 ft/lbs of
torque, the 1998 Mustang was available as
a convertible as well. The Mustang GT was
powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that could push
out 225 horsepower and 290 ft/lbs of
torque, while the Cobra and Cobra
convertible had a 32 valve DOHC V8 capable
of 305 horsepower.

The length and width of the new and old
cars are the same but the wheelbase has
grown. The new body is said to be
considerably stiffer than the old. Engine
options are a new alloy 4.6 litre sohc V8,
or the 4 litre sohc V6.

for 2003 is the NBX model with a
roof-mounted cargo basket, unique paint
and trim, and a soft-lined cargo area with
storage bag. The optional DVD rear-seat
entertainment system is available only
with the 3rd-row seat. For 2003, XLT
models get a chrome-finish grille and
steel-look interior trim.
